What is a numerator and a denominator?

The numerator is the top number of the fraction. It tells how many parts of the whole we are dealing with.

The denominator is the bottom number of the fraction. The name gives you a clue on which number it is. DEnominator. DE usually means make lower, bottom.. The denominator tells how many parts of the whole is equally divided into.
