Order Of Operations



Today's BEDMAS question is: 4x3+12÷2= ...

STEP 1: Check if there is any brackets. -there's none.

STEP 2: Check if there is any exponents. -there's none.

STEP 3: Check if there is any division or multiplication. (left to right) -there's multiplication.
Now it should look like this. 4x3+12÷2=
12+12÷2=. .
STEP 4: Now you do division since there is no brackets, exponents, and multiplication.
Now it should look like this. 4x3+12÷2=
12+12÷2=
12+6= .
STEP 5: Check if there is any addition or subtraction. (left to right) -there's addition.
Now it should look like this. 4x3+12÷2= 18
12+12÷2= 18
12+6= 18
18= 18.

Order of Operations

Here is how to do today's Order of Operations (BEDMAS) question.

4x3+12÷2=

First, you check for Brackets, and since there are none, you move on to the next step.
Next, you check for Exponents, there are none again so you go to the next step.
Third, you check for Division and Multiplication, and you have to calculate from left to right, so in this equation, you multiply first.

So you have...
4x3+12÷2=
12+12÷2=

Then you do the division...
4x3+12÷2=
12+12÷2=
12+6=

Then, you check for Addition and Subtraction, and then you solve.

So now you have...
4x3+12÷2=
12+12÷2=
12+6=
18=

Your answer should be 18.

Order of Operations

Step 1: Any Brackets, no



Step 2: Any Exponents, no


Step 3: Any multiplication or division, Yes so you go from left to right.


Step 4: Any addition or subtraction, Yes there is addition so you do the addition.

Here is a step by step guide on how to solve a BEDMAS question.







The example is be:4x3+12÷2=18







First, you check for brackets. There are none.







Then you check for exponents. There are none.







Now, check for multiplication and division. There are some.







You do multiplication first because it shows up first when you go left to right.







Now you have this:12+12÷2=18







Now you do division because there are no brackets, exponents or multiplication.



It should look like this:12+6=18







There are no brackets, exponents, multiplication or division.



All there's left to do is either add or subtract.



12+6=18











There's no subtraction sign, but there is an addition sign so you add.



Your answer should be 18. 18=18
